For a great live performer, there is no better feeling than leaving the stage as thousands of screaming fans yell in approval. It's a feeling that Trey Songz is surely used to. But that feeling got even greater after his sold-out show in New York's famed Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night after the R&B lothario learned he received a 2013 Grammy nomination in the Best R&B Song category for his single "Heart Attack."
"I think the song resonated well with a lot of fans, a lot of people all around the world, and hopefully we bring that gold back," Trey told MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway on Thursday of the Benny Blanco and Rico Love-produced track.
Trey isn't the only male R&B singer up for an award. Usher, as well as relative newcomers Frank Ocean and Miguel, are up for some golden gramophones as well — actually Ocean earned himself a whopping six noms. Songz is proud of the youngsters. He remembers first hearing Frank's Nostalgia, Ultra tape while out in Belgium and then finally meeting the Odd Future singer/songwriter in Los Angeles.
"I called him and we had a long conversation and he actually came to check me out one time in L.A.," Trey recalled before telling a story about Ocean riding a bike to the studio because he didn't have a car. "I was like, 'Next year you're gonna be laughin' about that.'"

Miguel is another artist who Trey isn't shy about praising. Actually he tapped the "Adorn" star, who will perform at the "Big & Best of 2012" live stream next Wednesday, to join him on his current Chapter V Tour. "I see the evolution and the beautiful thing about an artist that's staying true to himself and people loving it," Songz said about Miguel before toasting all of the gener's new talent. "That's what I love about the new wave of R&B when you mention artists like Frank Ocean, Miguel or the Weeknd, or even Elle Varner who's on tour with us as well."
