It's been seven years since Juelz Santana dropped his last album on Def Jam Records, but during that drought, the Harlem spitter was never unhappy at the historic label — well, actually there was the time that the label brass requested he not collaborate with his buddy Chris Brown.

"One thing L.A. Reid did though — I am definitely gonna put that out there, he dropped the ball on my 'Back to the Crib' record," Santana told "RapFix Live" when he stopped by the show on Wednesday.

In 2009, Juelz tapped Breezy to guest on his Polow da Don-produced single "Back to the Crib." It was a difficult time for Chris, who was feeling major blacklash following his assault on Rihanna earlier that year. Though the record captured a lot of the magic that Elz and Breezy exhibited on their first collab (2005's "Run It!"), according to Juelz, Def Jam was looking to protect their star artist Rihanna.

Reid, who was then the chairman of Def Jam, suggested that Santana pick a new collaborator. "They asked me to take Chris Brown off and put Trey Songz on the song," he revealed. "I'm like, 'I can't do that. Chris is my homey.'

"[Reid] definitely did that through issues that had to do with Rihanna and Chris Brown and the label situation," Juelz continued. "It was weird because I told him that was the move I was makin' before I made it."

Still, Santana insisted that, for the most part, his relationship with the powerhouse rap label has remained good, and in 2013, he plans to release his third LP Born to Lose, Built to Win. Juelz is particularly excited about this next release because has enlisted YMCMB star Lil Wayne to executive produce the effort.

"I figured to ask him to executive produce my album would be a great thing," he said. "He agreed to it, so that's gonna be coming."
