Taylor Swift has some red-hot (and sometimes blue) emotions she's sharing in her latest song teaser from her October 22 album release. On Monday (October 1), Swift previewed the album's title track, "Red."
The upbeat track, which she previewed on "Good Morning America," is definitely more country than pop thanks to the jangly guitars and bouncy melody. On it, she plays with the idea of colors in relation to her emotions, singing, "Losing him is blue, like I'd never known/ Missing him was dark grey, all alone/ Forgetting him was like trying to know somebody you never met/ But loving him was red."
Before giving fans a taste of the new track, Swift opened up about what I means. "I wrote this song about the fact that some things are just hard to forget because the emotions involved with them were so intense and, to me, intense emotion is red."
It's a similar sentiment she shared with MTV News earlier this month, when she said why she named her album after the fiery shade. "Well, in terms of my album, it kind of signifies the intense, really bold emotions you feel when you're in kind of mad love," said. "And I think that all of the songs on the album are written about those kinds of experiences that I've had."
The full "Red" track hits iTunes as the clock strikes midnight on Tuesday. She'll release two more songs ahead of the full album release. Last week she previewed the slower "Begin Again," on which she opened up about the early stages of falling in love. Also, she's already had some chart-topping success with the album's official first single, the incredibly sassy kiss-off, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," which spent three weeks at the top of Billboard's Hot 100 chart.
