"[Nick and Jess] are friends, and they're roommates, and they're in this group of friends and roommates, so it's a delicate balance," Johnson told the LA TV Insider Examiner at Fox's new fall comedy preview screening in Los Angeles. Still, he told the Examiner that he would have loved Nick and Jess to get together during Season 1 "because she's so fun to be in scenes with!" But HuffPost learned at the same Fox event that if Nick and Jess don't take the plunge, Johnson will be okay with it. "I think it'd be fun if they got together, see what happens," he said. "But if they don't, that'll be fun too. I'm excited to see what the writers come up with." Season 2 of "New Girl" premieres on Tues., Sept. 25 at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
