Countess LuAnn Says She's Still With Boyfriend
Aug 31st 2012, 20:41

The "Real Housewives of New York City" plot line concerning whether cast member LuAnn De Lesseps cheated on her boyfriend, Jacques, will spill over on Monday's episode of the hit reality show. And rather than wait until the show airs, LuAnn is striking out first to tell everyone that nothing happened between her and another man while vacationing with the ladies in St. Bart's.

"Jacques and I are still very much together and in love and happy," LuAnn told me. "We just returned from a glorious vacation at Lake George and will be spending the Labor Day weekend in the Hamptons, playing tennis and enjoying family and friends. We hope everyone has a great and safe holiday weekend." She also sent two photos of her and Jacques, snapped on their vacation in Lake George and Saratoga last week.

The rumors started after LuAnn found herself fibbing about bringing a group of Italian friends to the rented home she was sharing with her castmates.

"My big mistake was trying to avoid the speculation and assumptions by telling a white lie," said LuAnn, who is hoping the truth will finally set her free. countess luann

'Dancing With The Stars: All-Stars' Cast On The One To Beat
Aug 31st 2012, 20:35

Are you ready for "Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars" (two-night premiere begins Mon., Sept. 24, 8 p.m. ET on ABC)? The cast sure is.

I caught up with returning champions Drew Lachey, Kelly Monaco and Helio Castroneves, as well as Pamela Anderson, Gilles Marini, Bristol Palin and Melissa Rycroft, the previous season contestants with even more to prove. While they all agreed there's plenty of competition in this all-star crop (six previous winners! Olympic athletes!), they had wildly different answers when asked to size up their biggest competition.

Is it Season 8 winner Shawn Johnson? Or her fierce (and fiercely sexy) No. 2 Gilles Marini? Will Season 3 winner Emmitt Smith dominate the dance floor paired with his lucky charm partner Cheryl Burke again? Or will wildcard Sabrina Bryan be the one to beat?

Watch the interview with the stars, above, to see what they think, and to find out who's planning to coast on charm and who's already afraid of cast sabotage.

"Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars" two-night premieres kicks off Mon., Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

WATCH: Kristen Stewart Burns In 'On The Road'
Aug 31st 2012, 19:58

Sal Paradise still loves the mad ones.

Weeks after an international trailer for "On the Road" debuted, IFC Films has released a U.S. teaser, which seems to offer more footage despite being 40 seconds shorter. (Yep, that is "Boardwalk Empire" star Steve Buscemi at one point; yes, you do want to see his scene.)

Directed by Walter Salles and produced by Francis Ford Coppola, "On the Road" is the long-gestating adaptation of Jack Kerouac's seminal novel. Sam Riley stars as Paradise with Garrett Hedlund playing Dean Moriarty. Viggo Mortensen, Kirsten Dunst, Elisabeth Moss and Kristen Stewart all co-star.

As previously reported, the "Twilight" star is naked multiple times in "On the Road," and her uninhibited character engages in a threesome and masturbates two male characters in a car.

"I wanted to do it" Stewart said at Cannes, where "On the Road" debuted. "I love pushing, I love scaring myself."

Burn like a Roman candle and watch the "On the Road" trailer above. The film is set for release on Dec. 21.

Former 'SNL' Star Makes Shocking Comments About Rape And Gay Friends
Aug 31st 2012, 20:50

Reacting to the controversy surrounding Rep. Todd Akin's controversial comments regarding rape and abortion, former "Saturday Night Live" star and conservative activist Victoria Jackson said on Wednesday that if she were raped she would have the baby because it "would be a blessing," noting that the baby "has its own DNA" and is "not the father's DNA."

And responding to a HuffPost Gay Voices blog post from a former friend who said he ended their friendship because of her views on homosexuality, Jackson said she doesn't "think people should identify themselves by their sexual life." "The Todd Akin thing was so blown out of proportion -- it's a joke," Jackson said at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., when interviewed for my SiriusXM OutQ radio program. "How many times do people get pregnant from rape? It's point zero zero one percent. It's a joke. I read lots of articles. I know people, because I'm 53. I've know a lot of people, and I've actually never known anyone who got pregnant from being raped." "And guess what?" she continued. "If I got raped, I would have the baby. And if I didn't want to keep it because I had these [mocking tone] horrible nightmares, I would adopt it out. But I think that God can turn a bad thing into a good thing. And that, if I got raped and a beautiful baby who was innocent was born out of it, that would be a blessing. The DNA of a baby is individual. It's not the mother's DNA. It's not the father's DNA. And that's why I believe abortion is murder, because it's not the woman's body. It has it's own DNA. If there's a boy baby inside of me, he has a penis. That's not my body." In response to Gay Voices blogger Dan Steadman's post, in which he wrote about ending his friendships with both Jackson and Kirk Cameron because of their views on homosexuality, Jackson discussed her gay friends. "I didn't see [the post] but I love my gay friends," she said. "My best friends who are gay, I've actually never seen them with a boyfriend. It's like -- we've never talked about sex. I don't think people should identify themselves by their sexual life. My identity is in Christ. Some people's identity is in what country they come from. But I don't think people should make their identity about their sex life. That should be private. Why are they in the middle of the street in a parade? Why don't they just have sex in their bedroom alone?"

And there certainly have been many wonderful TV teachers along the way. Where would Buffy Summers have been without Giles? Zack Morris without Mr. Belding? Think of how many lessons Ms. Frizzle taught us both inside and outside the classroom on "The Magic School Bus."

In honor of the start of school, we've compiled some of the best advice TV teachers have ever given us. Click through the slideshow below and tell us your favorites.

Trish Bendix: The Best Lesbian Moments Of The Week
Aug 31st 2012, 22:08

AfterEllen.com is Logo's site for lesbians and bisexual women in entertainment and media, which means we pride ourselves on knowing all kinds of Sapphic pop-culture facts. Each week we'll share some of the best tidbits on The Huffington Post in our new series, "Best Lesbian Week Ever."

Here's who and what was on our raging gay radar this week.

Rosie gets remarried: After suffering a mild heart attack this week, Rosie O'Donnell announced she actually got hitched to her love Michelle Rounds back in June. I wonder if she's now "Rosie Rounds." I doubt it.

2012-08-31-144021946.jpeg Photo by Bruce Glikas/Getty Images

Slow news week: Star magazine's cover story is about Kim Kardashian's wild night with another woman that ended in a threesome. Let's hope there's no videotape that exists, or else we'll never stop hearing bout Kim's Sapphic Sex Tape Sequel.

Fallen Hopes and dreams: Soccer player Hope Solo details a lesbian kiss she shared with a girl in France in her new memoir, but she says it only confirmed her straightness. Are we sure a fact checker read over this before it went to print?

2012-08-31-hopecover.jpg

Horror Story hook-ups: Sarah Paulson and Clea DuVall play lovers in the second season of American Horror Story: Asylum, but the tabloids ran with a story that Paulson (an out lesbian) is actually dating co-star Jessica Lange. The source for that story: the reporter's wildest dreams.

Not worth your two cents: Rapper 50 Cent's new video features two women getting it on and eventually including him in the mix. Unfortunately, this is not the first hip-hop video of its kind. I wonder where the guy who sold that whole "Kim Kardashian threesome" story to Star got the idea.

Sing it loud and proud: Out R&B singer Monifah discussed her sexuality with her daughter on this week's R&B Divas, only to hear that she does not have her support. She does, however, have the support of all her co-stars: Faith Evans, Syleena Johnson, Keke Wyatt, and Nicci Gilbert.

Lesbianism is back in style: You're so hot, according to Style.com. Way to be in fashion for fall!

2012-08-31-lezchic.jpg Photo from Style.com

The lesbian didn't do it!: Lesbian-helmed show Pretty Little Liars revealed its "betrAyer" this week on its mid-season finale, and it was a miracle: The lesbian didn't do it! Paige has been exonerated -- for now.

I wouldn't kick them out of bed: Tello Films debuted their new Web series The Throwaways, about lesbian teens who are forced to leave their homes. Suddenly homeless people are getting a lot more attractive.

Talking Heads: The ultimate winners this week are Rachel Maddow and Sally Kohn for being the best political commentators on the Republican National Convention this week for MSNBC and Fox News, respectively. Listening to and reading their thoughts about the conventions happening did the impossible by making the RNC watchable, in a Mystery Science Theater 3000 sort of way.

Melissa Webster: Green Day Changes Its Stance on Walmart and Censorship
Aug 31st 2012, 23:10

So mega rock band Green Day is selling their new album trilogy iUno! iDos! iTre! in Walmart this time around, offering "clean" versions of the albums in compliance with the major retailer's personal guidelines regarding explicit content. To give a little background on the implications of this marketing decision, let's start in the year 2003, when the popular country music band Dixie Chicks' lead singer Natalie Maines said at a concert in London, "[W]e're ashamed that the president of the United States [George W. Bush] is from Texas," amid the lead-up to the Iraq War.

All of us watched in disbelief as radio stations across America removed the Dixie Chicks' music from the airwaves and some Americans gleefully gathered together to publicly burn their CDs. Censorship in America over one little comment? Here? In the land of the free? It had to be a mistake, a misunderstanding. Americans wouldn't give way to every fascist regime that has ever graced the history books, would they? But they did, and the message was clear, and artists, musicians, and entertainers of every stripe took heed. Speaking out publicly against the administration killed careers, completely stopping them in their tracks. So they remained silent, and the only voices for dissenters disappeared for over a year, until a rock band named Green Day, from Oakland, Calif., long written off as 1990s has-beens, made the intentional and risky decision to publicly oppose the direction this country had taken. And they didn't just do it in an off-the-cuff remark at a concert. No. Subtlety has never been their style. They instead created not one but two albums as an admonishment to the Bush administration and the conservative, religious politics that had gripped the country, and called those albums American Idiot (2004) and 21st Century Breakdown (2009), earning critical acclaim and massive commercial success.

Staying consistent with the conviction to always do what they want and write music for themselves above all else, when 21st Century Breakdown was released three years ago, Green Day caused a firestorm of debate, because they refused to sell their music in Walmart, opposed to the powerhouse retailer's insistence that they censor the music so it would be more family-friendly. Speaking out in interviews and on talk shows about the Walmart debate at the time, the band replied, "There's nothing dirty about our record.... They want artists to censor their records in order to be carried in there. We just said no. We've never done it before. You feel like you're in 1953 or something."

Fast-forward to today, amid the promotional roll-out of Green Day's latest risky venture, the album trilogy iUno! iDos! iTre!, and you get a complete change of heart toward Walmart, censorship, and apparently the 1950s in general. While it can be argued that this time, at least, the album trilogy can be considered (ahem) dirty, it seems that they now feel that American Idiot and anything else from their back catalogue is now fair game for censorship, as well. In a particularly ironic Orwellian twist, "clean" is the new word for censorship. Clean albums. Clean videos. Clean songs. I kid you not.

Green Day's new direction and attitude toward censorship began to make itself known in the form of the first single, "Oh Love," released in July, from the first album in the trilogy, iUno!, exclusively through Walmart, the powerhouse retailer for whom they'd refused to censor their music last time. A song that isn't particularly dirty, political, or controversial in any way, "Oh Love" was the safe, tepid, radio-friendly song from the album. Accompanying the single release were two different versions for the music video: an R-rated adult version that included nudity and was only available online for a short time before being removed, and a "cleaner" video that contains only the suggestion of nudity -- not a big deal, because the entire trilogy has a vast amount of sexual tension, both subtle and in your face. Aside from the fact that the risqué nature of the "adult" video, which bordered on soft porn, was such a stark contrast to the song itself, cleaning it up for younger audiences felt like a small concession, easily overlooked.

And then it became apparent that Green Day was also making available both a "clean" version of each album in the trilogy (to distribute through Walmart, though not exclusively) and an uncensored version of each album (which will presumably be sold elsewhere). Not only does this completely fly in the face of the stance Green Day took only three years ago against censoring their music for Walmart specifically, but it's since been revealed that it isn't even a matter of simply muting out the profanity. Green Day actually went into the studio and recorded alternate versions of some of the songs. So, in essence, they cleaned their own music for Walmart.

The most surprising complete turnaround occurred last week, when Green Day's official YouTube channel released a clean version of the flagship "American Idiot" music video and removed the uncensored one. To be clear: The uncensored "American Idiot" video is gone. They also released a new, censored version of the American Idiot album, to be sold through various retailers. Going back into the catalogue to clean up American Idiot is especially egregious considering even the profanity and particularly offensive words have political connotations. The lyrics "the subliminal mindfuck America" have been changed to "the subliminal mind____ America." The word "mindfuck" carries the meaning of an attack on the mind by way of propaganda that has turned Americans into idiots. It's the core of the entire song. To take away the profane aspect of that one word completely changes the entire meaning and tone of the song itself and the political impact that inspired Americans in a time of turmoil.

The self-deprecating lyrics "maybe I am the faggot America" have been changed to "maybe I am the ______ America." While the former reveals the writer's own admittance to possibly being the problem for not going along with the status quo, the latter says nothing at all.

Green Day's "American Idiot" (Official [Clean] Video)

The cleaning of American Idiot, along with the current marketing strategy of the album trilogy so obviously geared toward the tween set, plus the decision to capitulate to Walmart's demands, marks the moment Green Day has really morphed into a band few will recognize, with their public image, with the marketing of their products, and with the music itself. Their punk days have been long gone for a while (personally, I think we're all better for it), and we knew their political days had passed, but these current moves on top of the risky venture of the album trilogy itself are evidence of a new, superficial, let's-just-have-a-good-time-and-make-as-much-money-as-possible, older, more mature Green Day.

From what I've heard of the new music, from the "secret shows" last year and the song leaks on the current tour, along with the new single releases and videos, this new Green Day will most likely be met by their fans as equally better and worse -- better for those who love a great band gifting them with a palette of musical variety full of iconic eras of sounds, styles, and platforms, as if they really did just say "fuck it" and set out to have a good time, and worse for the fans who still long for the simple days of Dookie, their most popular breakout album, when fans thought they knew who Green Day were and what they stood for. Whether or not this new direction is a good thing in the long run will reveal itself slowly over time and will be interesting to watch unfold. One thing this band can never be accused of is being predictable.

Taylor Swift is set to debut her killer kiss-off anthem "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards on September 6. The songstress' appearance will mark the first time she's ever performed the track live. But the moment is hardly Swift's first big VMA moment.

Over the course of her four-year history with the show, the singer has left her mark on the VMAs with a slew of memorable performances and unforgettable wins. Before the big night, let's take a look back at the singer's storied history with MTV's annual celebration of music videos.

It initially took Swift two years after her self-titled debut album hit the shelves in 2006 for the curly haired blonde crossover star to make her VMA debut thanks to the success of 2008's Fearless.

That year, she not only worked the red carpet during the pre-show, she also went into it with her first-ever VMA nomination. She was up for Best New Artist for her "Teardrops on My Guitar" video. "I didn't think it was possible," she told MTV News that year. "I was so shocked. I started screaming, 'I get to go to the VMAs!' I didn't think I'd get to go to the VMAs. I'm not that cool. As a country artist, I've been pretty unapologetic about it. [But] it's cool to be included."

While she lost to Tokio Hotel in 2008, she was more than cool enough to nab a Moonman in 2009 for Best Female Video for her Fearless hit "You Belong With Me." Her win would go down as one of the most memorable in the show's history thanks to an unwelcome cameo during her acceptance speech by Kanye West.

After her win, she would take over the subway and the streets of New York City to perform her award-winning track. And by the end of the night, it was Beyoncé who let her finish the speech she hadn't had the chance to make earlier in the night.

"Maybe we can try this again," Swift told the room, later thanking the video's director, Roman White, her brother's school for allowing her to use their location, her co-star Lucas Till and her fans.

In 2010, she didn't take home any prizes (she was up for Best Female Video for another Fearless track, "Fifteen"), but she did manage to make headlines for another reason. She premiered the never-before-heard Speak Now track "Innocent."

"I had a lot of options going into the VMAs: You can not go; you can perform your current single; you can pretend like nothing happened last year that everybody is not thinking about; or you can say what you need to say at the time that you need to say it," she later explained about the song's origins and ties to the Yeezy incident. "And having an album coming out that's called Speak Now, that's about saying what you feel at the time, I knew I needed to go to the VMAs this year."

In 2011, Swift was across the street at the Staples Center when the show went live, playing a stop on her Speak Now tour, so she couldn't make the show. She had been up for Best Video With a Message for her hater-defying track "Mean." Lady Gaga ended up going home with the Moonman in the category for her equally empowering "Born This Way" video.

With her new album Red set for release on October 22, Swift will treat fans to her premiere live performance of the hit single "Never Ever." Given how theatrical Swift can be, it's really anyone's guess what she might have planned for the big show.
