Drew Barrymore has welcomed her first child into the world. She gave birth to her daughter, Olive, last Wednesday.
"We are proud to announce the birth of our daughter, Olive Barrymore Kopelman, born September 26, healthy, happy and welcomed by the whole family," a rep tells People.com. "Thank you for respecting our privacy during this most special time in our lives." (A rep for the actress hadn't responded to MTV News' request for comment by press time.)
It's the first child for Barrymore and her husband, art consultant Will Kopelman, who married earlier this summer at her Montecito, California, home. Rumors of their impending parenthood had never been formally confirmed by the actress until they released their wedding photo, which featured the happy couple and Barrymore's baby bump.
The couple became engaged in February 2011 while they were vacationing in Sun Valley, Idaho. The new father reportedly asked the actress to marry him with a colorless, radiant-cut diamond ring designed by Graff.
In the September 2010 issue of Marie Claire, Barrymore opened up about her philosophies on love after several very public relationships. "I'm happy to say that, at 35 years old, I feel I know less than ever," she said. "But in a liberating way. I'm trying to figure out how to make relationships work. The only thing I know is that there aren't any rules. There should be no infrastructure on how a couple is supposed to work. Life isn't like that."
The news of Barrymore's birth comes just days after Reese Witherspoon announced that she and her husband, Jim Toth, have welcomed their first child, son Tennessee James, into their family.
