With Hurricane Sandy shutting down the northeastern coast, a number of musicians have canceled or postponed gigs in and around the tristate area. Everyone from Rita Ora to Louis C.K. have all shut down planned performances as "Frankenstorm" makes its way up the coast.

While the storm had yet to hit its stride in New York City on Sunday night, in preparation for it, John Legend canceled his show at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. That same night, comedian Louis C.K. rescheduled his show at the City Center to March 2.

"If it's any consolation, I'm eating a pretty staggering fee for canceling the show," he said in a statement on his website. "But I can take it. What I can't take is the thought that there's a CHANCE 4,300 people will be in danger trying to get home from my stupid show."

Further inland in Philadelphia, Rita Ora, currently on her MTV Presents: The ORA Tour, canceled her show at the Trocadero. The same day, Yasiin Bey, formerly Mos Def, canceled his gig at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Ghostface Killah and Sheek Louch had a gig planned for Highline Ballroom on Sunday but also canceled their show. And EDM act Rusko had planned on performing at Pacha in the Big Apple on Sunday night, but has since rescheduled that date to New Year's Eve. He has also postponed a Tuesday night show at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ.

A number of indie acts have also decided to play it safe when it comes to Sandy. The XX have taken precautions in the wake of the storm by postponing their tour dates in New York, Philadelphia, and Baltimore. Grouplove had been slated to perform Monday night in Washington D.C. at the 9:30 Club, but the show has since been postponed. Their Tuesday night gig remains on.
