By James Montgomery Demi Lovato performs at game four of the 2012 World Series Photo: Getty Images If you are a San Francisco Giants fan, you probably drank too much celebratory champagne to remember this (and if you're a Detroit Tigers fan, well, you don't want to remember anything about the past 24 hours), but on Sunday night, Demi Lovato sang the National Anthem before Game Four of the World Series. Yes, following in the footsteps of "American Idol" champ Phillip Phillips, "Glee" star Matthew Morrison, and "New Girl" star Zooey Deschanel — each of whom performed before a World Series game this year — Lovato belted out "The Star-Spangled Banner" from just in front of the pitcher's mound in Detroit's Comerica Park, and while her version of the song was met with some, uh, mixed reviews online (look, it's an historically tough song to pull off), Demi finished the performance with a smile on her face. And then, presumably, retired to her front row seat to watch the Giants sweep the Tigers en route to the crown World Championship. Sorry, long suffering citizens of the D. Anyway, if Lovato appeared relaxed despite the tens of thousands in attendance (not to mention the millions watching at home), well, we're sure that's partly due to her current gig as an "X Factor" judge. But also because this isn't the first time she's performed the Anthem at one of the biggest sporting events in the world. Just last year, Lovato performed before Game 5 of the World Series, then cheered her hometown Texas Rangers on to victory. Though, at the time, she was anything but confident. How do we know? Because we were there with her. "I feel like I'm about to jump out of a plane," Lovato told MTV News' cameras while doing vocal warm-ups the Rangers ballpark in Arlington, Texas. "Although this is a lot safer." Turns out, she did just fine. And since she's now two-for-two in World Series performances, here's a look back at her first time, from 2011. Oh, and congrats Giants fans ... here's hoping the glow of another World Championship helps lessen the effects of that crippling hangover you're nursing today.
