One Direction, Cher Lloyd, Leona Lewis and Olly Murs have something in common besides the fact that they are all international pop singers. That one thing is the "X Factor." And, yes, that is not only the indefinable something that makes them who they are, but it also happens to be the British reality show that launched them to fame.

With the first three having already made a major crossover to the U.S., Murs is hoping that now is the time for him to do the same, giving major credit to Simon Cowell for the nudge. "I mean, to be honest, I did the 'X Factor' three years ago in the U.K., and it's been a real building process for me in the U.K.; so, I never really expected to sort of like come to America this soon," he told MTV News (when he recently shared his fuzzy feelings towards judges Demi Lovato and Britney Spears).

"I'm really happy that it's happened. So, yeah, it's great. That's what Simon's vision is: he wants the 'X Factor' to breed stars that are gonna go across the world. It's been good so far," he added. "I'm sure there's going to be more heard in America soon."

But, it's not just the "X Factor" artists that are helping the Brits invade the American charts. Murs said that it's been several years in the making, but U.S. audiences just seem really ready to hear music by U.K. acts on a more regular basis.

"I think it's the perfect time for British music to come over here. The Americans, you guys have really warmed to us, which is great and you're liking our music which is cool," he said. "Obviously the success of the likes of One Direction and the Wanted and obviously Cher Lloyd, a few of them, Adele, Coldplay... to come over here off the back of that hopefully they'll like what I'm doing."

The former One Direction tourmate is now ready to launch his debut U.S. album this December, Right Place, Right Time and is having a good time settling into life here in America.

"The American reception has been great. I've come here from literally nothing really. No one knows who I am," the "Heart Skips A Beat" singer said. "Of course, in the U.K., I've had success and #1's, etcetera, but here in America, no one knows who I am, which is kind of starting from scratch, which is good and fun, and everyone's hearing my music, and there seems to be a really good vibe about it."
