Rest assured that if T.I. ever swooped in to save your life in a critical moment, he'd also keep your secret. Creed frontman Scott Stapp recently revealed that the Atlanta rapper rescued him after a suicide attempt, and Tip said he was never planning to spill any details about that day.

Stapp describes the incident in-depth in his new memoir "Sinner's Creed," and he shared a bit of the story during a visit to VH1's "Big Morning Buzz Live" last week, explaining that T.I. entered the penthouse of Miami's Delano Hotel to find him severely injured after he jumped over the balcony.

Tip relayed his own version of events when he phoned in to the show Tuesday (October 9). "Me and my partner, Phil, we checked into the hotel, we stepped out on the balcony, and when we stepped out on the balcony, we heard groans, moans, just sounds coming from the ceiling above the balcony, so we stepped back and we looked up and we saw that there was a dude up there," he said.

"We didn't know who he was, he didn't know who we were. We just kinda exchanged a little dialog about how he got up there — all that had happened in the hours before — and pretty soon after that, we came to the conclusion that we should call for some help," he continued. "We asked if he was cool with us calling for help. He said it was a'ight, so we called the authorities, and the ambulance came and got him down."

When recalling the story, Stapp said that he'd instantly recognized T.I. after recording with him a few years earlier, even noting that he said "roll tide" out loud to him, to remind Tip of their mutual love for Alabama college football. The details were a little fuzzier for T.I., though, who admitted that so much had happened to him since the 2006 incident, he couldn't recall it all clearly. "I later found out that he was the lead singer of Creed — that was maybe a week or two or a day or two later," T.I. said.

When asked why he remained quiet about the story for so long, T.I. didn't hesitate: "Me and my crew operate on a 'don't ask, don't tell' basis — it's need to know only. And only those that were present were those that needed to know."

A hero who isn't interested in the glory — what else could Scott Stapp have asked for?
