When the Wu-Tang Clan converged on the scene swinging swords and rocking ninja masks in 1993, it was unlike anything hip-hop has ever seen. Like all good things, the Clan eventually came to an end — or a weird hiatus of sorts. Managing the egos of nine rap talents is no easy task, but if the Wu would like to come together one last time, RZA has a plan: relinquish all control to him.

"I think we can do it again," RZA told the New York Times of his proposed Wu reunion for next year's 20-year anniversary of their classic debut Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). "I've been talking to some of the guys, I was like, 'Yo, look, I would suggest that you put down everything you know, and trust me one more time.' "

RZA, who is set to release his directorial debut film "The Man With the Iron Fists" on November 2, acknowledges the difficulty in the Clan's dynamic, but sees a way that the crew can come together as a unit once again even without fallen member Ol' Dirty Bastard. He even goes on to compare the Wu to the Beatles.

"Many bands leave us, though — it just happens. The Beatles, they let it go, and that was it. You had to go with Paul or go with John or go with Ringo. They wasn't coming back together, and John dies and it never could happen," he said. "It's like O.D.B. has gone. But there's enough of us still alive, and I think there's still enough fans out there."

On Enter the Wu RZA had complete creative control over members like Method Man, Ghostface Killah and Raekwon, but after each member began to taste solo success, it became increasingly difficult to reign them all in. "They agreed, to me, to be a dictator for five years. And in those five years, it's considered some of our best work," the Abbott said. "Before, they believed in me like that, they trusted me like that. Now, they've had a chance to do their own thing, and some things they liked better. Whether it was successful or not, they may like it better."

It's been five years since the Clan released their last group effort, 8 Diagrams, but still, members like Ghost, Meth, Rae and RZA enjoy fruitful solo careers. It's unclear whether a 2013 reunion may actually happen. Only time will tell.

"I think there's one more round for Wu-Tang, if they go proper," RZA concluded. "But if they don't come proper, for some reason, whether it's my fault, their fault or the world's fault, I'm going to continue creating art and the Wu-Tang saga. If I've got to be the guy that's living it, I'm going to live it to the end."
